College Sailing Recruiting from the 29er class:

The 29er class has more than its fair share of recruited athletes sailing for various colleges and universities. In recent years skiff sailors have matriculated from the 29er into successful sailing careers at many top sailing schools, including Yale, Stanford, Harvard, Cornell, Brown, US Naval Accademy, Tufts University, Boston College, College of Charleston, Tulane, Bowdoin and many more. 

Fast, technical, and contingent upon close teamwork, the 29er is a respected proving ground that college sailing coaches consistently pull from. While college sailing itself might not take place in skiffs, college coaches know that the skills built in the 29er directly translate to any discipline of the sport, including theirs.
